1. What is Rhodium?
Rhodium is a rare and highly-prized precious metal roughly 10 times more valuable than gold. A member of the platinum group, rhodium’s stunning silver-white coloring and near-immunity to acid has made it the plating of choice for white jewelry.
2. What is the base material in your rings?
We offer rings crafted from a variety of materials. Here is a break down of the metals used.
Unless otherwise stated, our rings have a brass base, plated with 18K gold or rhodium. We use double the US standard to ensure exquisite quality and a lengthy lifespan.
(b) .925 Sterling Silver
This is the industry standard for high-quality silver jewelry. Pure silver is too soft and malleable for intricate designs, which is why sterling silver is used instead. This ring is 92.5% silver (hence the .925) reinforced by a small amount of a harder metal (usually copper) and plated with 18K gold or rhodium to ensure the silver maintains its beauty. By law, all sterling silver items are stamped with the characters “.925” as proof of authenticity.
(c) Stainless Steel
Stainless steel used in fashion jewelry can be defined as a steel alloy with a minimum of 10% chromium content by mass. It does not stain, corrode or rust as easily as ordinary steel.
3. What is 18 KT Gold or Rhodium Plating?
Plating is a term used to refer to the coating of a base metal with a precious metal, which both protects and enhances the beauty. In our case, our items will be plated with 18K gold (yellow) or rhodium (silver-white).
